Nestled in a stunning valley, Eyjólfssstadir Guesthouse became an idyllic backdrop for our romantic escape. The guesthouse, while understated, exudes a welcoming charm that was ideal after a day of exploring Iceland’s rugged landscapes. Our bright and airy room featured a handy in-room wash basin, perfectly accommodating my photography gear while still providing that cozy feel I cherish. The shared lounge was a gem, complete with free hot drinks available all day—an unexpected pleasure that kept us fueled for our hikes to the breathtaking Lagarfljot River nearby. The breakfasts had limited options but were hearty enough to start our mornings right. While we navigated the two shared bathrooms with other guests, the cleanliness was commendable, a detail that I always appreciate when traveling. With hiking trails just outside our door and the Egilsstadir geothermal pool a mere 10-minute drive away, we sampled Iceland’s gorgeous landscapes while enjoying the convenience of being close to town. Our hosts were more than helpful in arranging activities, making it feel like a truly personalized experience. Eyjólfssstadir is a delightful base—perfect for anyone seeking a blend of adventure and comfort amidst Iceland's natural beauty.
